The Carpenters.

Just last night. Was watching on CableTv, there was this show that they would sing classic and old songs. This week, they were introducing The Carpenters. My favourite pop duo. Then, they were talking about the life of the siblings, Karen and Richard Carpenter, and how Karen died.

In case you didn't know, Karen died of anorexia. She was very concerned about her weight, and probably chose to slim down in a wrong way. She probably had the mindset that if she's slim, everyone would love her. Moreover, she had a failed marriage. I think she's quite sad lah. When she tried to battle against anorexia, she gained alot of weight. But this further strained her heart, which is very much damaged along the years caused by dieting and abuse. Then, heart failure, then she died. 32 years old only. Her voice was so good, that i think few could compare with her.

The Carpenters was Dad's favourite too. He would tell me the history of them and how she died and stuffs like that, since young.

Okay back to the show. A couple of their famous songs were played, like "Close To You" and "We've Only Just Begun". But right after they talked about Karen's death, they played "Superstar". Wah, i tell you. I had goosebumps all over me, and felt a little sadness, when the tune was played. It was really a strange feeling.

It had such a melancholy melody. But with great lyrics. I think "Superstar" simply expresses Karen's feelings. A pity she died.
